Skin Soothing Vanilla Oatmeal Bath Recipe
Oatmeal baths have long been known for treating symptoms of irritated skin, everything from chicken pox to eczema can feel relief from an oat bath.
Oats act as amazing skin cleanser, perfect for dry or sensitive skin because it exfoliates without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Being rich in protein and lipids gives it the ability to moisturize the skin without added fragrances or other chemicals often found in store bought soaps. If you are dealing with sensitive skin the last thing you need is added chemicals in your bath products!
Oats help to reduce itching and inflammation, and it’s anti-oxidant powers even help treat sunburns. An oatmeal bath can be incredibly soothing and relaxing for our skin, whether we’re dealing with some sort of skin breakout/sensitivity or we just want to treat dry skin with a little moisturized pampering.
In this recipe I’ve added a bit of vanilla essential oil for two reasons. 1) It smells amazing! Most of us love the smell of a great vanilla scented candle, why not add it to our baths as well?! and 2) Vanilla oil is very good for our skin. It’s been proven to reduce inflammation, has anti-oxidant properties, is ultra moisturizing, and the scent is very calming.
Below is the super simple recipe 🙂 This is also easy to make in large batches to have on hand near the bathtub.
