Peppermint Tea Bath To Soothe Cough & Congestion
The benefits of drinking Peppermint Tea, and even using Peppermint Oil are pretty common knowledge. It’s known to sooth a sore throat, ease an upset stomach, tame a horrible headache, loosen congestion, relieve stress, and lift the spirits. Peppermint tea is definitely something that I always have in stock at my house! My oldest daughter and I drink at least one cup daily.
A few days ago, my six year old was starting to feel a cold coming on and coughing a little bit. So, I let her take a nice long peppermint bath. I recently discovered the benefits of peppermint tea baths, and she was excited to give it try! The oils from the tea, combined with the warm water, helped her to feel like she could breath a little better and she genuinely seemed to feel better afterward.
I started out just tossing in a couple of bags, for less mess. But she played with them and tore the bags. Although it meant a little more work rinsing out the tub, it did seem to release the oils better and make the smell stronger.
She also says that watching The Greatest Showman while soaking in a warm, minty bath is “the best ever.” So, double win! Find your favorite movie, tv show, or a nice relaxing book – and throw some mint tea in the tub! I only used two tea bags for her, since she’s young, but when I try this for myself I think I will use 5-7 tea bags for a nice strong tea bath.
Next time you’re feeling sick or stressed, give this a shot and let me know how it works for you!
Happy Bathing! Love, Melanie
